My happy smallville collection is inspired by the colourful waterfront houses in Nyhavn that I visited in Copenhagen. Colours affect our moods and emotions. Our preference for a specific colour indicates that we are lacking of the characteristics of that colour. In my Happy Smallville Collection, some of the colours that I used are :
Blue - calms the soul, stabilizes pulse & reduces nervousness
Green - represents purity and harmony, has a calming effect
Light Green - body and mind balancing, improves heart functions & increases vitality
Light Pink - sooths mental and emotional stress
Orange - promotes happiness and joyousness
Red - stimulates the overall energy levels of the metabolism, awakens our physical life force
Yellow - helps strengthen the nerves and mind, speeds metabolism and enhances concentration
There are many old and unique historical buildings in Copenhagen. While I am not an architect student, I couldn't help but fall in love with those buildings. Here are some photographs taken on the unique buildings.
Did you go holidays anywhere recently ? Share with me in comments below, I will hop over and read your blog post or view your pictures taken.
Today, I would like to share the colourful photographs of Nyhavn in Copenhagen, where many of the houses lining the quays have been the homes of prominent artists, including Hans Christian Andersen. Hans Christian Andersen used to live in no. 20. This is where he wrote the fairy-tales 'the Tinder-Box', 'Little Claus and Big Claus', and 'the Princess and the Pea'. He also lived twenty years in no. 67 and two years in no. 18.
Nyhavn is one of my favourite place in Copenhagen, I visited the place twice while in Copenhagen. I was simply attracted by the colours and simple architecture of the building, the lively and vibrant atmosphere created by the people and tourists frequented the place. I had a brunch at one of the sun kiss restaurant with my friend. While sitting there people watching, sipping my drink and savouring my meal, I can't help wandering what has been the greatest inspiration for Hans Christian Andersen find here which prompted him to write the very many famous fairy-tales stories ???
While visiting Copenhagen last August, I took the opportunity to witness Changing the Guard ceremony in Amalienborg Palace.
The Danish Royal Guard march from Rosenborg Castle to Amalienborg Palace where the Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place. According to our beautiful local lady tour guide, the Changing of the Guard ceremony takes place daily with the guard leaving Rosenborg Castle at 11:30 to arrive at Amalienborg Palace for the ceremony at 12:00.
My Soldier Kitten Collection was inspired from watching the Changing the Guard ceremony. Do you know what is the cost of a bearskin hat ?It costs a hefty £650, is 18 inches high and weigh 1.5lbs. This was told by our lady tour guide.
The palace castle was colourful in my artwork as influenced by the colourful Nyhavn.
Today I would like to share a few interesting photo shots on bicycles taken during my holidays in Copenhagen. Copenhagen is famously world known for its biking culture. It is now officially the first Bike City in the World. Last year, it was also voted the ‘Best city for cyclists’. Copenhagen intends to become carbon neutral by 2025, and it will be the first carbon neutral capital in the world.
Back in January 2014, the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur declared the first Sunday of each month will be a 'Cycling Day' in the city of Kuala Lumpur in keeping with the city's desire to promote a smoke-free environment.
